How deep do you plant onions
Q:
A:
We planted ours about an inch down. They did really well. Last year was our first year with onions. We are still eating them. They kept really well in the celler.

A:
If you are starting with bulbs (sets) trim the fine roots to about .5 an inch on the bottom and plant so the foliage is out of the ground about .5 of an inch. When the onion is about 10-12 inches, it is helpful to mulch the bulbs so they can retain more moisture to help with bulb growth.
